The Spring concert by the Vermont Wind Ensemble is a mix of old and new pieces from all over the world including "Molly on the Shore" (1907), a setting of two Irish folk tunes by Australian composer Percy Grainger, and "Elegy for a Friend" (2020) by Russian composer Svetlana Artemieva that is dedicated to all those whose lives were touched by loss during the COVID pandemic.  The concert concludes with "The Seventh Night of July" by Japanese composer Itaru Sakai that is inspired by Tanabata, a Japanese legend of two lovers separated by the Milky Way only being able to see one another on this one night every year.  The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Prof. D. Thomas Toner.
