Experience the enchantment of Myths, Legends, and Folktales at an unforgettable evening of orchestral brilliance. The program opens with Tchaikovsky’s timeless Sleeping Beauty Waltz, a sweeping tribute to one of the most beloved fairy tales. Next, Alice Mary Smith’s The Masque of Pandora invites you into the depths of Greek mythology with its evocative portrayal of Pandora’s fateful story. Journey through Norwegian folklore with two iconic movements from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, then witness the world premiere of Amaterasu, an exciting new work by Yutaka Kono inspired by the Japanese sun goddess. Stravinsky’s fiery Berceuse and Finale from The Firebird will dazzle with its rich, mythical drama, before the concert concludes with the majestic Lord of the Rings Suite by Howard Shore, bringing the epic grandeur of Tolkien’s world to life.
