Abstract

In 2022 Virgil Pierce left an 18 year career as a college teacher and researcher to work as a financial analyst and forecaster for the City of Greeley, Colorado's Water and Sewer Department. This talk will be an overview of the utility rate modeling process, by which the rates charged to customers each year are decided, and will cover the ways in which mathematical and statistical expertise is needed by water and other utilities.
