Precision Agriculture Technology in Dairy Production

Precision agriculture technologies and field-based practices support more sustainable dairy and cropping systems. Presenters will explore how emerging tools are reshaping on-farm decision-making by improving cropping efficiency while also protecting water quality. Topics will include variable-rate fertility strategies, innovative weed management approaches (such as robotic weeders and aerial herbicide applications), and advances in planter technology.

The mission of the Tri-State Dairy Team is to unite Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont in advancing dairy management through collaborative educational programs, addressing shared industry challenges, and fostering innovation across northern New England.

Starting in January 2025, join the team of Dairy Extension Professionals from UMaine, UNH, and UVM and guests for live monthly webinars held on the last Wednesday of each month from 11:30am-12:30pm.  Sessions will focus on current dairy research and programs happening in the tri-state region, including interviews, presentations and roundtable discussions.   Tune in live to stay up-to-date and join the conversation.  All sessions will be recorded and posted to the UVM Extension Northwest Crops & Soils Program YouTube channel.

In 2026, the theme is Advancing Dairy Systems Through Technology. The second quarter (April-June) will focus on Precision Agriculture Technology and Systems that support decision making from the field to the barn.
