Sam Dixon from Shelburne Farms will talk about ways they are working towards their net-zero goal including silvopasture, riparian buffers, and introducing biochar onto their fields.
Agenda
- Meet at the dairy barns where Sam will give an overview of their operation and rotational grazing practices.
- Walk to the new silvopasture planting to discuss the process of planting trees in pasture and different ways to implement silvopasture (depending on your farm goals).
- Explore a pasture or two with established trees for cows to use as shade and see riparian buffers planted by the lake.
- Walk back to the barn to discuss their biochar project (time permitting).
Snacks, refreshments, and boot covers will be provided. This is a free program.
