Hi Friends,As the Month of Ramadan approaches, we extend our warmest wishes to all who will be observing! ๐We want to share some important information about accommodations to support students who will be fasting during Ramadan.๐ Interfaith Center: Suhoor & Iftar Snack StationTo further support students observing Ramadan, the UVM Interfaith Center will be offering a Suhoor and Iftar Snack Station starting March 3rd in the Fireplace Lounge. This space is available for students to grab snacks for pre-dawn and evening meals in a welcoming and supportive environment.Additionally, we invite you to join us for Weekly Iftar Dinners at the Interfaith Center:๐ Friday, March 7 | 5:30 PM โ 7:00 PM๐ Friday, March 21 | 6:30 PM โ 8:00 PMWe will also host a Community Iftar on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 7:00 PM โ 9:00 PM. These gatherings provide an opportunity to learn about and share in faith and cultural traditions, enjoy delicious food, and connect with the UVM community.________________________________๐ฝ UVM Dining Ramadan Meal AccommodationsTo-Go Meals: * Students observing Ramadan or fasting for religious purposes may request up to two to-go meals per day from cashiers at traditional dining halls (Harris Millis, Central Campus, Northside, and Redstone Dining). * Disposable containers will be provided. Please refrigerate perishable items for food safety.๐ Halal Meal Options: * Pre-packaged certified halal meals are available upon request at traditional dining halls. Ask to speak with a sous chef to order. * Certified halal chicken is available upon request (prepared in a regular kitchen, not a certified halal kitchen). * Sous chefs can provide ingredient details, recipes, or food labels to accommodate dietary needs.๐ฅ Meal Exchanges at Halal Shack: * Students observing Ramadan may use up to 2 Meal Exchanges per week (MondayโFriday) at Halal Shack. * This accommodation applies only to On-Campus Meal Plans and Swipe Out Hunger Meal Swipes. * To set up this accommodation, email Ania.Egan@uvm.edu by Wednesday, 2/26 at 4 PM.For additional dietary accommodations or questions, don't hesitate to contact UVM Dining Registered Dietitian, Ania Egan, at Ania.Egan@uvm.edu.Wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Ramadan!Best,UVM Interfaith Center
