The UVM Percussion Ensemble's Fall Concert reflects its mission statement: to introduce students to standard literature, music from other cultures, and the improvisational tradition of percussion instruments.  The ensemble will play music from the Indonesian island of Java as well as one of the very first percussion ensemble pieces ever written by Cuban composer Amadeo Roldan that is based on the Cuban son and montuno musics.  Both "Metrechronosity" and "Compuesto Muchos" involve controlled improvisation, while the pieces that represent standard percussion ensemble literature include "Tetracurrent" for four marimbas.  The Percussion Ensemble is conducted by Prof. D. Thomas Toner.
