About the Workshop:
Latin America is home to numerous traditional communities, formed by countless Afro and Indigenous peoples. Their traditional thoughts and lifeways are changing along with colonial-modern society; nevertheless they sustain a close connection to nature. Lessons stemming from these broad experiences can teach an alterity perspective on nature conservation, valuable not only in thinking about Afro and Amerindian peoples, but also in considering broader society, including conservation and interactions amongst traditional-modern communities.
Prepared in collaboration with: Ariane de Almeida Rodrigues, Lara de Macedo Monteiro, Lúcio Costa Proença and Vitória Cardoso.
