Pianist Ilya Yakushev is a charmer, a truly gifted and nuanced performer who draws the audience in with technique, emotion, and communication. For us, he’ll be offering an incredible program – the first half celebrates the 100th anniversary of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue while the second half will be Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Yakushev has curated a projected photographic display to accompany both pieces, consisting of images of Gershwin’s New York and the actual Viktor Hartmann drawings that inspired Mussorgsky’s great work.
