The Faculty Edit: Framing Photo-Secession Panel Discussion
About this Event
View mapHear from UVM’s School of the Arts faculty Nicole Bull, Ace Lehner, Bill McDowell, and Sarah Richter on Wednesday, March 25 at 5pm as they discuss The Faculty Edit: Framing Photo-Secession. Curated by the faculty themselves and featuring selected works from the Museum’s collections, the pop-up exhibit will be on view Tuesday, March 24 through Saturday, March 28 in the Fleming’s Learning Studio during regular visiting hours.
Placed in conversation with our featured exhibition, Photo-Secession: Painterly Masterworks of Turn-of-the-Century Photography, this pop-up exhibit dives deeper into the spirited artists and pivotal moments in photography’s early history, such as when Clara E. Sipprell, became the first female artist to have an artwork acquired by the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 1932. Works by Sipprell will also be on view in collaboration with Silver Special Collections.
UVM’s Fleming Museum of Art is free and open to all. No admission or reservation is required for entry or events. For more information visit uvm.edu/fleming.
