View mapTracing how innovations in dress and adornment have helped construct identities, shape politics, and power economies in the modern world, UVM students from Professor Abby McGowan's Fashion's Empires history course present this pop-up exhibition, on view Tuesday, April 14 through Saturday, April 18.
Student-curators selected works from the Museum’s collections, ranging from mid-19th century wedding dresses to a Qing Dynasty military jacket and a 1920s flapper dress. They will present their research on these items during UVM Research week on Wednesday, April 15, from 11am - 2pm in the Fleming’s Learning Studio.
Curated by CATS: Fashion's Empires will be on view during regular visiting hours. UVM’s Fleming Museum of Art is free and open to all. No admission or reservation is required for entry or events. For more information visit uvm.edu/fleming.
