The premiere performance of Vermont's Equinox Wind Quintet. Featuring music by August Klughardt, Darius Milhaud, Malcolm Arnold, Vincent Persichetti, and György Ligeti. From the compositional whimsy of Arnold's Three Shanties for Wind Quintet to Milhaud's evocative score for the 1939 film "Calvalcade d'amour" to Ligeti's Six Bagatelles, which shakes off the shackles of mid-twentieth century Stalinism, the music of these composers displays the vast range of a wind quintet. Persichetti's tranquil Pastoral and August Klughardt's Wind Quintet in C Major, which harks back to Liszt, Wagner and Schumann, make up the remainder of the music on this concert.
