About this Event
From September 23, UVM Dining is excited to celebrate our local and regional partners across New England! Visit our dining halls and retail locations to learn more about our local offerings, identified by the Vermont First logo.
What is Vermont First?
Launched in 2014 by Sodexo's Vermont team, the Vermont First initiative has expanded into a statewide program dedicated to sourcing and tracking local and regional food. Despite challenges like this summer’s flooding, we're committed to providing you with fresh, local, and organic vegetables, along with essentials like milk, cheese, bread, ground beef, snacks, coffee, and more! 🥦🧀🥖 Over the past decade, Vermont First has created market opportunities for small and medium-sized food businesses across the state. At UVM, with your support, we aim to have 25% of our menu sourced locally by 2030. Last year alone, we proudly worked with over 90 Vermont farmers and producers to bring local food to UVM's campus.
A Local's Guide to UVM Dining
Eat Like a local from morning to night on campus with these suggestion menu options:
-
Breakfast: Start your day with Larson Farm (Wells, VT) yogurt topped with pure maple syrup from UVM's Proctor Maple Research Center (Burlington, VT). We exclusively use this local maple syrup in all UVM Dining locations.
-
Lunch: Craving something plant-based? Build your own Vermont Bean Crafters (Warren, VT) black bean burger in our dining halls. Ordering from retail? Enjoy a burger on fresh buns from Stewarts Bakery (Williston, VT).
-
Afternoon Treat: Need a pick-me-up? Swing by the UVM Dairy Bar for a scoop of Wilcox Ice Cream (Manchester, VT).
-
Dinner: Head to Picante in the University Marche to create your own burrito or taco bowl. Choose from sour cream and cheese by Cabot Creamery Cooperative (Cabot, VT), corn tortillas from All Souls Tortilleria (Burlington, VT), and local meats from Black River Produce and Champlain Valley Pork.
-
Evening Fuel: Keep your energy up for study sessions with hot or iced coffee roasted by Speeder and Earl's (Burlington, VT) at Cyber Cafe, University Marche, or Redstone Market.
