CALS Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

The competition is fast-paced and fun. The competition cultivates the communication skills of the competitors and fosters community among graduate students as they learn about one another’s research.
This year, each college will be holding its own preliminary round. CALS 3MT preliminary round competition will be held on March 26th, 3-5 PM. You may register for CALS preliminary round by submitting a short survey on or before March 12th. Your 1-slide presentation will be due 3-days before the competition (March 23, 11:59 PM). More details about the competition will be sent via email to the registered participants.
The university final will be held on April 15th, as part of UVM Research Week. Competitors from the final will be selected through preliminary rounds held at the college level.
Eligibility
Any currently enrolled PhD student who has begun their dissertation research and can present material based on their original research is eligible to participate in the CALS preliminary round competition to be considered for the finalist slot(s) for the UVM wide competition.
CALS leadership team also encourages thesis-based MS students to participate in the CALS 3MT competition, with the caveat that MS students will not be eligible to compete in the UVM wide competition.
Winners of CALS 3MT competition at both PhD and MS levels will receive prizes. All participants will receive some swag!
