Since 1885, generations of students, faculty and community members have walked up the red stone stairs and through the broad round arch to open the front door of the Billings Library at the University of Vermont. As the main campus library and then the student center, Billings was the heart of the campus for many years. After extensive renovations, in 2018 Billings began its third incarnation as the home of Silver Special Collections, the Center for Research on Vermont, the Miller Center for Holocaust Studies, and the UVM Humanities Center.

Through photographs, documents and objects, the exhibit highlights the architecturally renowned building's past as a library and student center and its current use as home to Silver Special Collections and three academic centers.
