Join Civic Engagement and the Howe Library for a local screening of the acclaimed documentary THE LIBRARIANS during Banned Books Week (October 4–10). Communities across the country will be coming together that week to celebrate the freedom to read and spark conversations about intellectual freedom, democracy, and civic engagement.

Directed and produced by Oscar-nominated and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Kim A. Snyder, THE LIBRARIANS follows courageous librarians who emerge as first responders in the fight to defend our First Amendment rights. The film has screened in more than 200 independent theaters nationwide, over 150 film festivals internationally, was broadcast nationally on PBS / Independent Lens, and earned more than 30 awards, including an Emmy® for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.
