Dr. Asli Bali will speak about the topics of academic freedom in higher education since the events that have unfolded in the Middle East after October 7. The speaker will address issues of free speech and constitutional rights across universities. She will also discuss how the academic climate of open inquiry has been challenged in the context of Israel-Palestine.
Dr. Asli Bali is the Howard M. Holtzmann Professor of Law at Yale Law School. Bali is also the current President of the Middle East Studies Association in North America, the flagship academic institution in the United States specializing on Middle East history and affairs.
