2026 CEMS Engineering Design Night

Engineering Design Night returns to the Davis Center's Grand Maple Ballroom this spring to celebrate the remarkable senior capstone project designs by teams of Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering Seniors.

SEED Program

24 teams from the Senior Experience in Engineering Design (SEED) program will be presenting their designs and prototypes for engineering challenges sponsored by a diverse group of technology companies, UVM departments, faculty members, and regional organizations.

This year's exciting projects include:

• testing/calibration machines
• a chocolate truffle packing machine
• an automatic ice breaker
• semiconductor device design and testing
• a knee rehabilitation device
• a cargo bike accessory
• a coconut engraving machine
• a sensor trade show demonstration
• improved snowblower controls
• aerospace sensor packaging and electronics
• a precise distance sensor
• small cargo containers
• a renewable energy sensor
• a hands-free jogging stroller
• a snowpack monitor
• a weeding robot
• an application-specific head-mounted camera
• a tiny wildlife temperature monitor

Biomedical Engineering Capstone Program (BCAP)

5 Teams from the Biomedical Engineering Capstone Program (BCAP) will be presenting their innovative solutions to clinical challenges, brought forth by UVM clinicians, researchers, or initiated by the students themselves.

This year’s impactful projects include:

• A combination carpal tunnel release/cauterization device
• A novel electrode design and modeling for improved ventricular tachycardia ablation
• A new way to keep cardiac tissue alive ex vivo, advancing cardiac model research
• A gait sonification device, aimed at improving research and treatment of Parkinson’s disease
• A modular mobile health system for increased access to care in rural communities
