Over 10 days in October, VTIFF brings the world to VT by screening 70+ films from 40+ countries. Dozens of these films deal with 'Hidden Figures' -- the queer Muslim 20-something immigrant in Paris balancing a religious family with her own identity (The Little Sister); the Iranian woman advocating for female empowerment and the end child marriage (Cutting Through Rocks); the six displaced citizens of Khartoum, Sudan, trying to find new lives after their city has been destroyed by civil war (Khartoum); and many more. The festival connects established filmmakers with UVM's Film & TV Studies Department, including Oscar-nominated Nancy Savoca.
