Arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. Workshop starts at 10:00 a.m. and will finish by 3:00 p.m. (approximately).

 

The Vermont 4-H Working Steer Workshop is designed for 4-H members (ages 8 to 18

as of January 1) to receive expert instruction on the use and care of working steer.

 

At each station, members will receive expert one-to-one instruction and have an

opportunity to work with their animals on the following skills:

 

  • Ox cart obstacle course station will give you a chance to hook up to a 2-wheeled ox cart and maneuver through a series of obstacles.
  • Stone boat instructional station will show you how to work your animals on a chain and on the weight they are pulling.

 

Additional information:

 

Your animals’ health papers and approval forms will be checked. There will be a potluck lunch — please bring a dish (and your own serving utensil) to share.
